The Challenge
A soft decline that is never retried is revenue nobody books, and issuers behave differently by BIN and by hour. Decline data sits in gateway logs that no one reads end to end.
How It Works
- Reads gateway authorisation and decline logs, BIN tables, token status and settlement outcomes.
- Separates hard from soft declines and learns the retry hour each issuer approves.
- Writes retry and routing rules back to the gateway and reports recovered value weekly.
What It Removes
- Blanket retry schedules applied to every decline
- Monthly spreadsheet trawls of decline-code counts
- Guesswork on which issuer accepts a retry
Input Data RequirementsGateway authorisation and decline logs, BIN and issuer tables, network token status, retry outcomes, settlement files
Output FormatIssuer-level retry and routing ruleset plus a weekly recovered-authorisation report by BIN and decline code
“Half a point on approval rate is worth more to us than anything the growth team will ship this year.”
