The Challenge
Mill test certificates live as paper and PDF. Confirming a lot meets a specification means someone reading certificates by eye, and the stock cannot be searched by grade, heat, yield or connection at all. All stock is sold subject to third-party inspection.
How It Works
- Reads and connects the source records named in the proposal.
- A document-understanding pipeline over the certificate archive, paper and PDF alike. It extracts heat number, grade, yield, wall, connection and dimensions into a structured store linked to each lot, so the whole book becomes searchable by specification. Low-confidence fields go to a human review queue rather than into the record, and the original certificate stays exactly where it is.
- Publishes a source-linked recommendation for Manager, Aberdeen approval and records the decision.
