The Challenge
SLB built history matched models for all nine reservoirs, cut the field development plan from over three years to under six months, proposed about sixty infill wells and put total recovery for one reservoir at 27 points against 13 with no further action. The same deck names the failure: lack of model operationalisation, and fast outdating models.
How It Works
- Reads and connects the source records named in the proposal.
- One engine holds every candidate action across Cheleken and the Gulf of Suez: infill, sidetrack, water shutoff, injection reallocation, lift change. It scores each on incremental barrels per dollar inside the remaining licence term, not on a generic payback. It re-ranks as production, pressure and water cut arrive, so the list never goes stale. Engine 02 restores barrels the field already had. This engine finds barrels it has not produced yet.
- Publishes a source-linked recommendation for Chief AI and Innovation Officer approval and records the decision.
What It Removes
- A model built once and never rerun
- A candidate list agreed once a year
- A payback that ignores 2035
