The Challenge
Sodir Resource Report 2020 fact box 4.1 covers exploration wells from 2000 to 2019 and puts transport, meaning vessel, helicopter and aircraft, at about eight per cent, with the drilling facility at just under 40 per cent. Sodir also publishes wellbore level drilling days for the whole NCS, which is the comparison set. There is no usable external rate benchmark, because Rushmore is subscription only and Westshore rates are not published, so this engine benchmarks against OMV's own offsets and public Sodir data only.
How It Works
- The engine compares the well against OMV's own offsets and the public Sodir wellbore record on days, sections and cost drivers.
- It normalises for water depth, total depth and well type so that the comparison holds, and it names the offsets it used.
- It does not set the target itself; the Well Delivery Manager sets the efficiency target the next AFE is built on, and the engine shows the evidence range.
What It Removes
- Benchmarks bought from a subscription database
- Comparisons against wells that are not comparable
- Targets set with no delivered precedent behind them
Input Data RequirementsSodir wellbore data with drilling days, total depth and water depth, OMV's own offset well records and cost by section, the rig and service contract rates in force, and the current well design and programme.
Output FormatDashboard showing this well against its offsets on days, sections and cost drivers, with the target range for the next AFE.
“I cannot buy a benchmark I trust, so I want to be measured against the wells we actually drilled.”
