Match Helicopter Seats to the Week's Real Crew Need to stop flying a standing schedule
Matches seats to the crew change and the visiting service personnel the programme actually needs that week, rather than to a standing schedule.

The Challenge
Helicopter sits inside Sodir's transport share of about eight per cent of exploration well cost, and there is no reliable public NCS figure for cost per flight hour or per seat, so none is used here. Bronnoysund served as OMV's helicopter base on the Hoffmann well in 2025. Tactical helicopter planning on the NCS is normally run as a repeating weekly programme against stable demand, which fits a steady platform but not a drilling campaign where the visiting service personnel change week by week.
How It Works
- The engine reads the week's programme and derives who actually needs to be offshore, crew by crew and service line by service line.
- It matches seats and flights to that need and shows where the standing schedule and the real need disagree.
- It does not book a seat or file a flight plan; the Logistics Coordinator does, and the engine claims no cost per seat because none is published for the NCS.
What It Removes
- A standing flight schedule that ignores the programme
- Seats booked for people the week does not need
- Service crew changes planned after the flight is fixed
Input Data RequirementsThe drilling and installation programme, crew rotation and personnel on board records, service contractor mobilisation plans, helicopter contract terms and flight schedules, heliport and base records, and offshore bed capacity.
Output FormatWeekly pack setting out each planned flight, the seats needed by crew and service line, and the gaps against the standing schedule.
“Every week my programme changes and my flight schedule does not, and that gap costs seats.”
