The Challenge
The OMV Combined Annual Report 2025 states that Berling subsea structures, umbilicals and pipelines are installed, with riser and dynamic umbilical installation scheduled in 2026, while drilling is stated as 2026 or 2027. Those two activities overlap in public. Havtil audited OMV on Berling in 2023 and raised, word for word, an improvement point on plan for managing interfaces, and Management Regulations section 26 requires applications for modifications to address the management of simultaneous activities.
How It Works
- The engine finds every window where installation, drilling and marine activity overlap in time and place across the plans.
- It attaches the control that makes each window safe, the owner of that control and the document it comes from.
- It does not approve a simultaneous operation; the Project Interface Manager and the responsible parties do, and the engine holds the register and shows what is not yet controlled.
What It Removes
- SIMOPS windows agreed verbally between projects
- Controls with no named owner
- Overlaps found when both vessels are on location
Input Data RequirementsThe drilling programme and rig sequence, the subsea installation and riser and umbilical schedules, vessel movement plans, Havtil consent and modification applications, bridging documents, and the SIMOPS procedures in force.
Output FormatRegister listing every SIMOPS window, the activities that overlap, the controls, the owners and the windows still uncontrolled.
“If two of my activities are going to be over the same field on the same day, I want that written down long before it happens.”
