The Challenge
The opportunity is to eliminate a line that earns less than its cost, price held while inputs move, and volume chased at a loss. The proposed workflow is source-linked, but the current operating baseline and financial value remain illustrative until validated with the client.
How It Works
- One record per product line and stock code: the price realised by customer and region, the material content, the input prices behind it, the plant that made it and the volume it carries.
- The engine rebuilds line margin weekly as tungsten, powder and copper move, ranks the codes earning less than their own cost, and proposes the price, the specification change or the withdrawal.
- It reads the line costing file and the purchase log.
What It Removes
- A line that earns less than its cost
- Price held while inputs move
- Volume chased at a loss
Input Data RequirementsQuotes, estimates, contracts, cost history, labour and material rates, actuals and win-loss outcomes

“I will price each line against its own cost this month, not against last year's cost.”
