The Challenge
Every job starts with someone counting panels, doors, wet units and furniture off a drawing by eye, once per ship. A wrong number written down early is not found until material fails to arrive at the yard.
How It Works
- Ingests accommodation and GA drawing files, the standard furniture library and supplier prices.
- Recognises spaces and placed items, matches them to purchasable articles and prices them.
- Issues the item and material list by compartment with a certainty score, re-counting on change.
What It Removes
- Counting panels and fittings off drawings by eye
- Quantities rebuilt by three people in three places
- Re-counting by hand after every drawing revision
Input Data RequirementsAccommodation and GA drawing files, standard furniture and fittings library, past purchase orders and catalogues, board sizes, factory time standards
Output FormatItem and material list by compartment, fire rating against each item that needs one, tender price with uncertainty margin, order list, change report
“The quantities are counted the same way every time, and when the drawing moves, the count moves with it.”
