The Challenge
Hand assembly runs one shift while the cutting machines run two, so assembly - not machinery - limits what the factory can produce. Waste, scrap and on-time delivery are not measured at all today.
How It Works
- Ingests board stock, cutting lists, production orders, cabin item lists and gluing-line photos.
- Plans nesting against the offcut register, inspects laminated panels and sequences assembly.
- Issues cutting plans, offcut placement, panel flags and a packing order matched to handover.
What It Removes
- Offcuts scrapped while new board is bought
- Faulty panels discovered after more work is added
- Assembly queued in order of arrival, not need
Input Data RequirementsBoard and panel stock records, cutting lists and production orders, item list per cabin type, gluing-line photographs, scrap records, handover dates
Output FormatCutting plans that use less board, offcut register with placement suggestions, faulty panels flagged early, assembly order matched to handover
“The constraint was never the saws - and now the queue is ordered by the ship that needs the cabin first.”
